Formal and Informal Greetings in German :

After learning how to say Hello and Goodbye in German , We will learn now which previous phrases are formal and which are not . Germans respect higher authority with their choice of certain phrases . The more formal phrases above are Guten Morgen , Guten Tag , and Auf Wiedersehen (as well as Grüß Gott) . While the less formal ones are Tschüss . The other are neutral in the formal – informal chain .

Note: In Germany nowadays , “Tschüss” is also used with people who are not on first name terms .
