Formal and Informal Greetings in German :

The more formal phrases above are Guten Morgen , Guten Tag , and Auf Wiedersehen (as well as Grüß Gott) . While the less formal ones are Tschüss . The other are neutral in the formal – informal chain .
Note: In Germany nowadays , “Tschüss” is also used with people who are not on first name terms .
